what “somatic” actually means (no jargon, promise)
“somatic” just means “of the body.” that's the whole word. no incense required.
most of us live from the neck up. we think about our feelings, name them, analyse them — and then wonder why they're still sitting in our chest at 11pm.
somatic practice starts somewhere different: with sensation. a tight jaw. buzzy hands. the sigh you didn't know you were holding.
in a somatic coaching session, we slow down enough to actually notice those signals — and then we work with them. gentle movement. breath. journalling about what showed up.
it's not about doing it perfectly. there's no gold star for the most relaxed person in the (virtual) room.
it's about building a working relationship with the one body you've got — so stress moves through instead of moving in.
